How we work it out
- 1 Bill to units. We take out the fixed charge and meter rent, then work the rest backwards through KSEB's domestic tariff: telescopic to 250 units a month, flat-rate above that. Give us the units printed on your bill and we skip this step.
- 2 Units to kilowatts. Each district has its own yield. Palakkad gives about 1,470 units per kW a year and the Idukki high ranges nearer 1,355. We size to cover a full year of your consumption, monsoon months included.
- 3 Kilowatts to rupees. Turnkey rates fall as systems get bigger, so we price capacity in bands. Then we subtract whatever PM Surya Ghar subsidy you qualify for.
- 4 Rupees to payback. We rebill you at your reduced consumption and take the difference. That comes out higher than units times your average rate, because solar removes your most expensive slab first. Banked surplus is bought out at about ₹3.15. Over twenty-five years we age the panels 0.5% a year, put tariffs up 3% a year and charge 1% of capex for maintenance.
What it cannot know
How your palms shade the roof in June as against December, the pitch and direction of a tiled roof, whether your rafters or slab can carry the array, and whether you are on a single- or three-phase connection. All of that needs a site survey. It is free, and we book it on your first call.
