Veyil is Malayalam for sunshine. We work in one state and no others. Rooftop solar in Kerala is a different job from rooftop solar in Rajasthan, and a company that treats it as the same job will sell you the wrong system.
Why only Kerala
Kerala has taken to rooftop solar faster than almost any state in India, and it has good reason to. Tariffs are steep at the top of the slab. Households here consume more than the national average. Nearly everyone owns their own roof.
Kerala also has a set of conditions that ruin systems designed elsewhere. Salt air along nearly six hundred kilometres of coast corrodes ordinary hardware. Humidity sits high all year and gets into connectors. The state records some of the highest lightning strike density in the country. Two monsoons take output down by half for months at a stretch. And on a great many roofs, what stands between the panels and the sun is a coconut palm that moves with the season.
None of that is exotic. It is local knowledge, and a national installer working from a standard bill of materials does not have it. We stayed in one state so that our default specification is already right for the roof in front of us: salt-mist certified modules, marine-grade structure, surge protection on both sides, dual-MPPT inverters. You do not have to know to ask for any of it.
The same goes for the paperwork. KSEB is one licensee with one process, fourteen district offices and a great many section offices. Knowing how each of them works is an advantage you only get by staying put. We file your portal registration, your technical feasibility application, your Electrical Inspectorate approval and your subsidy claim, and we chase your section office until they are done.

How we work
Four things we hold to on every job, from a 1 kW terrace in Alappuzha to a 500 kW factory shed in Palakkad.

We size from your bills
- Two years of KSEB readings and a shadow study of your own roof, every time. An oversized system sells its surplus back at about ₹3 a unit when you could have saved eight or more by using it. An undersized one leaves you sitting in the slabs you were trying to get out of.

One price, itemised
- The proposal names the make and model of every panel, inverter, cable and clamp. The price covers structure, wiring, earthing, surge protection, KSEB liaison and commissioning. Nothing gets added after you sign.

We handle the paperwork
- Portal registration, KSEB technical feasibility, Electrical Inspectorate approval, net-meter application, commissioning report, subsidy claim. Chasing your section office is our job. We tell you where things stand without being asked.

We are still here in year ten
- Five years of scheduled maintenance is included, and we sell AMCs after that. We monitor every system we install, so a dropped string usually reaches us before you notice it.
What we will tell you that others might not
Three things to know before you talk to anybody about a rooftop system, us included.
- Bigger is not better
- Once your system covers your own consumption, every extra unit gets exported and bought back by KSEB at roughly a third of what you would have saved by using it. We size to your bills and stop there, even when the roof has space for more.
- Most homes do not need a battery
- Under net metering the grid stores your surplus for free. A battery earns its place where outages are frequent or long. Otherwise it is the easiest way for an installer to add a lakh to a quote.
- Some roofs should wait
- If your slab needs waterproofing, your palms need cutting back, or your consumption is low enough that payback runs past eight years, we will say so and tell you to come back later.
Where we install
All fourteen districts, with our own crews. We are based at Koothattukulam in Ernakulam district and run teams out of Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. Call-outs to the high ranges and to Kasaragod take longer to schedule, and we say so before you sign rather than after.
How it works
From first call to first unit, in about six weeks
Most of that window belongs to KSEB. Technical feasibility and the net-meter inspection run on their calendar. We file every form, chase your section office and tell you where things stand at each stage. The work on your roof takes three days.

Day 1
Step 1: Free site survey
An engineer measures your shade-free area, checks whether the roof can carry the array, notes your connected load and reads two years of KSEB bills. We survey the palms across the whole year, because what clears the roof in December can cut across it in June.

Days 2–4
Step 2: Design and proposal
You get a layout drawing, a month-by-month generation estimate with the monsoon dip shown, the make and model of every component, and one price with the subsidy already deducted.

Week 1
Step 3: Registration and KSEB application
We register you on the PM Surya Ghar portal and file the application at your KSEB section office with the connected-load documents. You sign once. We wait in the queue.

Weeks 2–5
Step 4: Approval and installation
Once technical feasibility clears, our crew erects the structure, lays the array, wires the inverter, earthing and surge protection, and commissions the system. Three working days on a typical home. We schedule around the rain.

Weeks 5–7
Step 5: Net meter and inspection
The Electrical Inspectorate signs off and KSEB swaps your meter for a bi-directional one. From that date your export counts against your import. The next bill is the first one that looks different.

Within 30 days
Step 6: Subsidy and handover
We upload the commissioning report and your bank details, then follow the claim until it is paid. You get the monitoring app, the warranty file and five years of maintenance visits.
